It is a great privilege to be able to help guide the careers of the future veterinarians, doctors, and scientists in our community. Our student interns and employees get to see every aspect of clinic life and many of them end up pursuing medicine or science. Their enthusiasm helps create an atmosphere of learning and cooperation that we believe benefits patients and practicioners alike.
We are proud to introduce our new front desk manager. Her name is Anya and she is a German Shepherd. She comes with exemplary qualifications and is looking forward to helping all of you. Unfortunately, she will only be here for one week before she returns to her normal occupation of being an excellent pet.

Although we are a cat and dog clinic, we do see the odd guinea pig, snake, owl, or, in this case, chicken. Madam Louise came in with a complaint that is quite familiar to chicken-keepers: a Plantar Abscess or, as it is more commonly known, Bumble Foot. She was walking with a limp and had a large, open infection on the bottom of her right foot. After removing the abscess surgically, we sent her home on a regimen of bandaging, oral antibiotics, and foot-soaking. After a week, the owner was pleased to report that Madam Louise had quickly resumed her normal activities and that her foot appeared to be quite well-healed (no pun intended.)
Chickens have become a common sight in Bergen County. Many of our clients keep them not only for the eggs that they lay but for sheer enjoyment. These animals never fail to fascinate and delight, for despite their ubiquity on dinner tables, they have a wild beauty and magnificence that is truly their own.

The warm weather is here and our winter puppies are finishing their vaccinations in time to enjoy the great outdoors. Cooper, pictured below, completed his vaccinations today and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Pet Health Studies.
The diploma is just for fun but the protection that vaccinations and preventatives give is real. We are entering the season where dogs will experience their highest exposure to fleas, ticks, mosquitos, other dogs, and wild animals. If you haven't gotten your dog ready to run, dig, sniff, chew, and hike through the great outdoors, now is the time!
